Lambeth's Specialist Warden Team Champions Community Safety and Wellbeing

Lambeth’s specialist Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) & Antisocial Behaviour (ASB) Warden team undertake regular high-visibility patrols to help make our borough safe for everyone.

The team is made up of 5 specially trained public protection officers who use data from our Commonplace site to inform their activities and are able to respond quickly to incidents and concerns.

Over the summer period the team have been busy making a positive contribution to our community, for example by:

• Working in close partnership with the emergency services – including alerting the Fire Service to a large tree trunk on fire in St Mathew’s Churchyard

• On Four occasions, providing assistance to unconscious, unwell or injured women across the borough, ensuring that they were kept safe whilst awaiting help from the emergency services. In one instance this involved protecting the privacy of an unconscious woman who was being filmed by passers-by. In another, the team challenged the predatory behaviour of a man who posed a danger to a woman who was unwell and vulnerable, signposting him to appropriate support services.

• Whilst conducting a weapons sweep in collaboration with police Safer Neighbourhoods Team the team removed a dangerous knife from the St Mathew’s area. They have subsequently added weapons sweeps into their daily tasking.
